Joanne Briggs’ eagerly awaited book on the role her father played in the Primodos scandal hits bookshelves in a few days – and you can meet Joanne and learn more about her extraordinary memoir at two “in conversation” events.
The Scientist Who Wasn’t There: A True Story of Staggering Deception is out on 5 June and reveals the devastating consequences of research into Primodos carried out by Joanne’s father Michael.
5 June: Waterstones
On the same day it hits the shelves, Joanne will discuss her book in a launch event at Watersones in Gower Street, London. Welcome drinks begin at 6pm with the discussion starting at 6:30pm. A book signing will follow the discussion.
Tickets including a copy of the book cost £23, with general admission £10 and student tickets £7. They can be bought via Waterstones’ website.
11 June: Hatchards
Then on 11 June, Joanne will be at Hatchards Piccadilly, London, for an evening in conversation with renowned barrister and author Michael Mansfield KC in which she will talk about her research and findings.
The event starts at 6:30pm. General admission is £10, while tickets for Hatchards Rewards Card holders costs £5. To buy tickets, visit Hatchards’ website.
17 June: House of Commons
As well as the two public events, MPs have been invited to a parliamentary book launch at the House of Commons organised by Yasmin Qureshi, who chairs the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Primodos.
At this event, Joanne will take part in a panel discussion and Q&A alongside Mr Mansfield; Jason Farrell, who has led Sky News’ ongoing investigation into Primodos; and Association for Children Damaged by Hormone Pregnancy Tests chairwoman Marie Lyon.
